In case some of the emulators may not run properly (showing a message box telling that the program configuration is not correct) one has to download the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 C++ runtime DLL from this page (external link to Microsoft's download page): Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 runtime redistributable
Next time I'll make sure all emulator binaries are compiled with static linking to these libraries, but chances are good that these are already installed on most machines anyway.
