WinLux80 1.0 - a Luxor/BRG ABC80 emulator for Windows

Following the preview version with a bit more than a year, the "resurrected" ABC80 emulator of mine has been released. The ABC80 was an 8-bit, Z80 based personal computer manufactured by Luxor in Sweden. The main features are as follows:

The emulator is available from the download page. It also includes a command line tool (with source) to convert tapes in WAV format to the emulator's native ATP format. Give it a try!

After exactly one year, another 1.4.1 release, this time WinTVC has been updated. This new release has been long overdue, as 1.4.0 was released more than two years ago now... Anyway, the most important changes are as follows:

Homelab emulator update - v1.4.1

Here is a long awaited update to my Homelab microcomputer family emulator. The most notable changes are the following:

  • DirectInput as well as buffered keyboard input mode added (latter for better Wine compatibility which does not seem to properly tolerate frequent keyboard state polling)
  • selectable speed
  • copy emulator window to the clipboard as a bitmap (Alt+X)
  • loading programs using the command line
  • hunt memory ('h') command in the interactive monitor
  • multipart HTP file support when autoloading (HL2)
  • HTP ROM trap support for keys and tape (HL2)
  • support for optional accented charset ROM (HL2)

New version of Ultimo out

Today, a new (1.6.0) version of my Microkey Primo emulator has been released. The Primo was a simple Z80-based Hungarian microcomputer in the ’80s.

This version sports a vast amount of improvements, among others:

  • Implementation of the 6×9 screen mode on Primo C (or Pro/Primo)
  • interactive monitor
  • adjustable speed
  • hardware accelerated keyboard handling via DirectInput (legacy, but still way faster than anything else)
  • copy emulator window to the clipboard as bitmap
  • Pro/Primo colour palette fix (inversion)
  • CP/M ROM support (memory handling for proper boot – alas, no boot disk)
  • CDOS working directory setting fix
  • Commodore DOS EoI fix (no more CMD RESET required after boot)
  • copy-paste ROM trap fixed (this was a nasty one)

New WinTVC release

To celebrate the 2nd annniversary of the last release, my Videoton TV Computer emulator for Windows has received an update. The most notable changes in version 1.4.0 are:

  • new interactive monitor and disassembler
  • support for accented characters when using the clipboard
  • support for SID sound (via external reSID library)
  • improved CRTC emulation
  • separate DevTool builds (32 and 64 bit)

Another update of my Homelab family emulator: version 1.4. The Model 2 (aka Aircomp) emulation has been further improved and finally a new interactive monitor was added as well – this latter will soon be featured in other Z80-family emulators of mine. My Homelab family emulator has just received a minor update (v1.3.1) with improved Model II emulation (loading from tape, adjustable memory size, graphic mode). Check it out in the Download section.

New release of my Colour Genie emulator

After a very long hiatus, a new version (1.1.0) of my EACA Colour Genie emulator is released today. It is quite a bit of an overhaul compared to previous versions. The emulation accuracy was increased significantly by making the (CRTC) video emulation cycles based. Here is the summary of the most important changes:

  • more accurate (albeit slower) cycle based video emulation
  • CRTC improvements
  • proper full screen mode
  • small AY-3-8910 improvements
  • tape emulation bug fixes

Aircomp/Homelab emulator update

After a long-long while a new version of my Homelab (and now: Aircomp) emulator is finally out now (1.3). The most notable changes are as follows:

  • Homelab II / Aircomp-16 emulation (incomplete/imperfect)
  • custom aspect ratio
  • improved full screen mode
  • copy screen to Windows clipboard
  • paste text from Windows clipboard

The backbone of the Homelab II / Aircomp-16 emulation is the one in the discontinued ‘HoLa’ emulator of mine from 2007 but has been significantly improved. Unfortunately, due to the poor documentation, reading from raw tape (WAV) files as well as the graphic modes are not supported yet but if you have a real machine feel free to submit hints for improvement. Grab the new release from the Download section.

New 8-bit emulator added

A completely new emulator of the Z-80 based Hungarian micro “Mickey-80” has been added to the list of my 8-bit emulators. In short this was a small scale kit based machine with only a few units left in existence, with no documentation or software…

Version 1.3.0 of WinTVC out

December 25, 2021


After yesterday’s update, this time a new version my Videoton TV Computer emulator (WinTVC) is being made available. An increase of the minor release version number is justified by the scope of changes and new features, which are as follows:

  • all four expansion slots are now supported
  • support for Texas Instruments SN76489 sound IC emulation (via emulation of the Multisound and Gamecard expansion cards)
  • improved tape sound
  • snapshot improvement (ID, compatibility between 32 and 64 bit)
  • $FD prefix disassembly fixed

After a long while a new Ultimo release

After so many years, my Microkey Primo emulator, Ultimo, received an update. The following novelties are included in this release:

  • paste text from the Windows clipboard
  • “typeload” BASIC program text into the emulator (.BAS extension)
  • more robust fullscreen mode

A new release of my Videoton TC Computer emulator is out now with the following goodies:

  • OpenGL video mode + PAL TV shader
  • hardware accelerated keyboard input (DirectInput)
  • much improved CRTC emulation (interrupt, counters)
  • finetuned TV synch emulation
  • video RAM paging error fix
  • more accurate synch and speed measurement
  • improved saving to video (AVI)
  • saving to GIF fixed
  • full screen mode fixed (was prone to crash under some Win10 machines)
  • B/W switch in GDI video mode fixed

New version of my Commodore music player out now!

Check out my GitHub page here, where a new version of my Commodore family music player ‘WinTedPlay’ was released. It is meant for replaying the Commodore 16 and plus/4 music collection called HVTC but it can also nicely cope with the popular PSID format of the Commodore 64. It features a decent playlist and is my only piece of software having made it to SoftPedia, w00t!

After a long hiatus, a new version (1.1.1) of my Videoton TV Computer (Enterprise 64/128 relative), has been released. Changes and fixes:

  • support for custom ROM configurations
  • RCA cable emulation
  • support for FILEIO.ROM loading CAS and other types of files from the file system directly (ep128emu feature)
  • support for non-standard HBLANK length
  • video bank register reset fix
  • DPI awareness fix
  • maximizing window fix
  • sound IRQ bugfix
  • fixed memory leak in device contexts when no status bar is present
